A brief CV of Arild Stav

Arild Stav graduated from the Norwegian Academy of Music with clarinet as his main instrument in 1981, and he has worked as a professional musician since 1978, with both saxophone and flute as his instruments. He has extensive experience both as a musician and a bandleader/conductor.

During 35 years as a studio musician, he has collaborated on more than 300 recordings with the nation’s most profiled artists in many genres.

As a clarinetist Arild Stav has more than 25 years of experience as a musician from symphony orchestras such as, Oslo Philharmonic orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Norwegian opera  orchestra. He was also employed as a solo clarinetist in the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra between 1989-1993.

Since the mid 80’s he worked as the Musical Conductor for many musicals in Oslo,such as: Annie Get Your Gun (1986). La cage aux folles (1987). Sound of Music (1988). West Side Story (1990). Sugar (1999). The Full Monty (2003)

He has also been the musical conductor for many TV shows such as the Eurovision Song Contest, both nationally and internationally (Dublin 1988). In addition, he has conducted the majority of military orchestras in Norway. He is also the musical director of “Samlebandet” .A professional big band situated In the Oslo area,consisting of some of the finest norwegian jazz musician.

In Christian Music, Arild was the conductor of The European Pentecostal Centennial in 2007, He was the music director in Oslo Christian Center from 2003-2007. In addition he produce records for artists and is one of the most acknowledged woodwind player in Norway. Arild is a recording artist with two solo albums containing several self composed pieces.The album”Dawn”in 2001, and the latest ”Contemplation” together with Svein Skulstad in 2011(skulstadstav.no)
